Solve.Care Leveraging Blockchain to Drive Better Healthcare Outcomes

July 01, 2019

Estonia has been on the cutting edge of technology for some time, so it’s not surprising to see Tallinn-based healthcare platform provider Solve.Care, taking a lead in using technology to build better healthcare solutions.  The company is using is using blockchain to improve administration, coordination, and payment of healthcare services and setting the stage for value-based care models.  Value-based care capitalizes on connected health solutions to prioritize the quality of care over quantity, which is prevalent in the traditional Fee for Service (FFS) model and tends to increase healthcare costs for everyone involved.

Solve.Care has partnered with Cyber Physical Chain (CPChain), an IoT blockchain company that has developed a distributed infrastructure designed to combine distributed storage, encryption computation, and blockchain to simplify the data collection, storage, and sharing process.

The idea is to collect data from wearable and non-wearable medical devices – such as activity trackers and blood sugar monitors – then combine it with other medical systems and data to drive improved, analytics-based patient outcomes and enabling the success of population health programs.

“It is our vision that bringing that bringing these data streams together will lead to better results for patients, lower costs for healthcare systems, and a more effective way to deliver care for providers,” said Ed Odjaghian, head of partnership management at Solve.Care.

Solve.Care will use CPChain’s distributed fabric to enable better analytics for healthcare systems and help them deliver better care based on individual and aggregate data related to any number of variables, from disease conditions to socioeconomic, demographic, and employment variables.

“We have always believed in empowering the patient and provider to interact with each other and coordinate care much more effectively,” said Pradeep Goel, CEO & Founder of Solve.Care.  “We are enriching our platform with more capabilities, such as non-emergency medical transportation and pharmaceutical care and our partnership with CPChain will see us adding the ability to incorporate consumer, wearable, and other medical device data into our platform.  The opportunities are enormous.”

The company is also looking to improve drug traceability by the transfer of medical equipment data onto blockchain.  Despite those who remain skeptical, blockchain is real and is transforming industries.  Given the success IBM’s FoodTrust project has seen already, tracking produce and other food products from their sources to retail shelves, it’s a logical adaptation of blockchain technology that will help improve efficiency and reduce costs for patients, healthcare, providers, pharmacists, and drug manufacturers.

We are excited to be working alongside Solve.Care, who is making healthcare affordable and accessible for everyone, while empowering the consumer to effectively manage their healthcare decisions,” added Dr. Long Chengnian, CEO of CPChain.

The ability to transform healthcare using blockchain will be among the many topics discussed at The Blockchain Event, February 12-14, 2020, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  The event is focused on business applications of blockchain across various industries, including healthcare, banking, real estate, insurance, voting, and more.  If you have a blockchain story you’d like to share at The Blockchain Event, we’d love to hear from you.
