Blockchain Company Ankr Scores Deal with Sacramento Kings
Blockchain technology has been a popular topic in the business world for years now, but is set to get some mainstream attention thanks to a new deal heading to the National Basketball Association.
Digital asset platform provider Ankr recently signed a new deal with the Sacramento Kings, which will allow the company to advertise with on-court signage and baseline branding to raise company awareness. In addition to the signage, both the Kings and Ankr will jointly produce educational content and interactive projects to encourage the adoption and understanding of blockchain technology.
“Sports can be a powerful platform to educate and embrace innovation,” said Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “We are proud to partner with Ankr to further align our synergies around forward-thinking initiatives and provide fans educational opportunities about the crypto economy.”
Though the Sacramento Kings are obviously synonymous with basketball, the organization has become a huge advocate and early adopter of blockchain, forming the first charitable crypto mining operation in professional sports, MiningForGood. The charity uses funds collected from crypto mining to help educate and train future workers for blockchain-focused careers. The Kings also utilized the technology to create a blockchain-powered fan reward program with Blockparty back in 2019.
“We have visited the Kings data center for crypto mining inside their facilities many times and I admire the openness of the owner, Vivek, to embrace new technologies,” said Ankr Founder Chandler Song. “We are aligned in this mission to promote applications of Web 3 technologies. Ankr’s partnership with the Sacramento Kings, one of the most innovative companies in sports and in the NBA, will open a lot of new doors for both sports fans and the crypto community.”
